Art Project ورد - Warda (2022 - heden)
ورد - Warda (2022- Heden) Afm. 2,90m bij 1,50m. Textiel, kralen “Het machtige ritme van de natuur doordringt alles en de mens wordt er met lichaam en ziel in verweven.” Sinds januari 2022 werkt Rowana met een groep vrouwen aan het Kunstproject Warda. Warda betekent bloem in het Arabisch. Zoals een bloem zichzelf in de periode van de lente ontvouwt, zo ontvouwt zich het kunstproject ook. Geïnspireerd door geborduurde Bedouïnse klederdracht uit de Sinaï in Egypte is het Kunstproject ontstaan. Het Kunstproject heeft Rowana in een AZC in Arnhem gestart. Later is het Kunstproject voortgezet in het AZC in Velp waar zij sinds mei 2023 tot heden wekelijks samen werkt. Zonder visueel voorbeeld onderzoekt Rowana de mogelijkheden in textiele vormgeving met een groep vrouwen van verschillende afkomsten. De natuur is het uitgangspunt geworden voor het handwerk. De taalbarrière daagt ons uit op een creatieve manier te communiceren. Maar opnieuw blijkt dat een mens op vele andere manieren kan communiceren dan enkel met woorden. Met dank aan: Fenneke Berge Henegouwen, Hugo de Haas Den Dorsser, Henk Hoefsloot, Jethro Rahajaan, Robert Vonk, Gaia Beyduz en acht andere schenkers wie anoniem wensen te blijven. Deze groep hebben het Kunstproject financieel gesteund en vertrouwen gegeven. Het COA, zij hebben meegeholpen met het in contact brengen van de vrouwen, met het faciliteren van een werkplaats en het beschikbaar stellen van materialen. Zonder deze steun is het niet mogelijk om het project te realiseren. Warda means flower in Arabic. As a flower unfolds itself in the period of spring, so does the Art Project. The Art Project was inspired by embroidered Bedouin costumes from the Sinai in Egypt. Rowana started the Art Project in an AZC in Arnhem. The Art Project was later continued in the AZC in Velp, where she has worked together weekly since May 2023 until now. Without a visual example, Rowana explores the possibilities in textile design with a group of women from different backgrounds. Nature has become the starting point for textile handicrafts.
